How Sources Are Identified
Sources in this archive are identified through a combination of direct monitoring, third-party alerts, and manual research. A source is added to the archive when it has published at least one item that meets the selection criteria described in our Editorial Policy.
Each source is assigned a source type and a source category to describe its nature and its relationship to the coverage it produces. These classifications are applied consistently and are not influenced by the content of the coverage.

Syndication and Story Clusters
When a single story is published by multiple outlets — whether through newswire distribution, republication, or independent parallel coverage — the archive records each outlet separately and links them together in a Story Cluster. Story Clusters allow visitors to see the full media footprint of a given story: the original publisher, the date of first publication, and every verified outlet that carried the story.
Each placement within a Story Cluster is assigned a coverage type that reflects the nature of that specific outlet's publication — for example, "Newswire Distribution" for a wire-distributed version, or "Independent Editorial Coverage" for a separately written article on the same subject.
Outlet Count Verification
Outlet counts shown on Story Cluster pages reflect the number of verified, individually accessible placements recorded in this archive at the time of the most recent update. Counts are conservative: a placement is included only when a working source URL has been confirmed. Unverified or inaccessible placements are not counted.
Source Accuracy and Updates
Source records are reviewed periodically. If a source changes its name, domain, or publication focus, the record is updated accordingly. If a source is found to have published inaccurate information about AURUM, the archive record is annotated or removed as appropriate, consistent with our Corrections Policy.
